The Lucinda L Jasper Scholarship Fund, Inc. was started in 1993 by Richard Jasper in memory of his mother, Lucinda Lenora Jasper, who taught in the Archdiocese of Washington D.C. for over thirty years.
The Lucinda L Jasper Scholarship Fund, Inc. annually awards scholarships to students in the eighth grade going on to a Catholic high school of their choice in the Archdiocese of Washington D.C. Each school year an essay competition is held to award the scholarships to eighth grade students in Catholic schools. Students are asked to write an essay about an African-American who has inspired them to go on to higher education.
The scholarship monies are sent directly to the Catholic high school of the winners’ choice.
